Crayfish Festival

After Soccer games on Saturday we headed to town to enjoy the Crayfish festival. We had not been in a few years, but Thomas really wanted to go. It was so hot. It did not stop the Medina kids from having a great time, I think the crayfish brought out the "southern" in them!! I know these beads made me think of my family in Mississippi.
Thomas really wanted to try the crayfish. Poor guy has so many food allergies that when we go to a festival like this he is severely limited in what he can eat. The men who cooked the crayfish actually caught them on Friday in our local river and cooked them in seasoned water. Unfortunately Thomas could not eat the seasoning, so they fixed Thomas a batch fresh for him. He was so happy they really made his day. With the help of daddy he ate them up!!

Mikayla liked to look at the live crayfish but would not try them (just like her mom) she stuck with her favorites corn on the cob and bread.

Taylor made friends with this crayfish (it had been cooked already) Oran said it tasted yummy!!

The kids has fun and as a souvenir they got crayfish beads. The kids all experienced crayfish for the first time, stuffed themselves on kettle corn and listened to jazz music a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
