Happy 8th Birthday Thomas!!

On Sunday September 27, Thomas Omar Medina turned 8 years old. He was 8lbs 1 oz., 21 inches long and after a fast 3 hours of labor he was born at 3:36 pm. He is now in the second grade, playing soccer and in cub scouts. This is his second grade picture
Thomas had a great birthday (even with a sick brother) he got a new video game, and some Ben 10 toys. These past 8 years have gone by so fast, Thomas always makes me laugh and even though is small has a HUGE personality and we love him so much!

Crayfish Festival

After Soccer games on Saturday we headed to town to enjoy the Crayfish festival. We had not been in a few years, but Thomas really wanted to go. It was so hot. It did not stop the Medina kids from having a great time, I think the crayfish brought out the "southern" in them!! I know these beads made me think of my family in Mississippi.
Thomas really wanted to try the crayfish. Poor guy has so many food allergies that when we go to a festival like this he is severely limited in what he can eat. The men who cooked the crayfish actually caught them on Friday in our local river and cooked them in seasoned water. Unfortunately Thomas could not eat the seasoning, so they fixed Thomas a batch fresh for him. He was so happy they really made his day. With the help of daddy he ate them up!!

Mikayla liked to look at the live crayfish but would not try them (just like her mom) she stuck with her favorites corn on the cob and bread.

Taylor made friends with this crayfish (it had been cooked already) Oran said it tasted yummy!!

The kids has fun and as a souvenir they got crayfish beads. The kids all experienced crayfish for the first time, stuffed themselves on kettle corn and listened to jazz music a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Soccer

Well fall is here (although it did not feel like it on Saturday, 100 degrees) that means it is soccer season. That's 4 practices a week and 2 games every Saturday until November. Thomas and Matthew are playing this year with Matthew playing his first season. After 5 years of playing Taylor decided not to play this year. The boys played a great game on Saturday, and are looking forward to many more wins!
Matthew is on the "Sharks". There team won 7-0 and Matthew scored 5 goals!!!
Thomas is on the "Dark Dragons". They played very well and won the game 3-1 is should be a fun season. Now if only I can learn just to sit on the sidelines and not yell!!!

CAMPING................kind of!!

Usually on Labor Day weekend we pack up our motor home and head to the desert so the kids can ride their ATVs. But with the boys, 3 weeks into school and soccer practice, Oran and I decided life was just to crazy to even tempt to put a trip into the plans. So we decided to have a "camp out" in the back yard. The kids loved it.
The guy next door grows grapes in his backyard and the vines always fall in our yard so Matthew and Oran had to clear them out before we could set up the tent.

while Oran, Matthew were outside cleaning Taylor went on the computer to fine ghost stories. He had a few good ones to tell in the tent before we went to sleep.

This is Mikayla's favorite thing to do outside, climb up the ladder to the slide.

Now that the yard was clean, it was time to set up the tent. All the kids helped.

Now that we ate dinner it's time for s'mores YUMMY!!! (side note.....Thomas can not eat s'mores because of all his food allergies so he is eating his "bar" that I make special just for him)

Matthew loves to eat them

Thomas loves to cook them

after s'mores Oran got out the telescope.

The telescope was a hit, they saw some stars and it was neat to hear Taylor name all the planets.

Good night sleep tight

and we all slept in the tent all night long until about 6:30 in the morning when the kids woke up!!
