This past weekend I took Taylor and his Webelos den to the Boy Scout Camporee. Camporee is a Friday threw Sunday fun filled weekend! About 150 Boy Scouts from our district get together every year and have a huge camp out. They invite the Webelos to attend because in a few months they will no longer be in Cub Scouts and will be moving on to Boy Scouts, this is a chance for them to experience what boy scouts is like. They shot guns, threw axes, did archery, played games, built rockets, learned how to geo cash, built fires and made smore's. I had a great time watching them learn and explore.

enjoying a well earned lunch

Taylor and on Saturday

Taylor with his friend Justin

After lunch.....They boys were hot (about 95 degrees) and ready to go play more games!

This is were the built rockets. They used 2liter soda bottles with water and weights. They used an air compressor and launched them into the air. They went well over a 100 feet. The boys were amazed. I did not get better pictures because you know the saying "what goes up, must come down" and I was to busy making sure I was not a target!

playing "kims game"

The boys played a game called "The pancake flip" One boy had to cook a pancake, then he had to walk it to a line and toss it 30 feet to the rest of the boys who had to catch it and then each had to take a bite. If they dropped it they had to start again or eat it off the floor thankfully they caught it! They were timed who ever did it the quickest won. They got a honorable mention for this game they did great!

Taylor at one of the merit badges learning to use the compass and GPS. They also got to go geo cashing. Lots of fun.

Over 150 boys ready to have a fun day. Taylor is at the end of the picture in the front saying hurry up I hate taking pictures!

Chocolate lovers delight cooked in a dutch oven..............Yummy!!

I also entered a dutch oven cook off my first time cooking in one. I had fun and my cake won 3rd place.

At the awards ceremony Saturday night one of the Boy Scout troops performed a flag retirement ceremony. It was A VERY moving scene to watch 150 scouts salute a very worn American flag as is was retired.
Taylor and his den had so much fun, I only wish they had showers!!!!
I love geocaching. I think that we've found over 100 so far. There is a website that you can log onto and see that they are EVERYWHERE. You'd be surprised. It is a fun activity that the whole family can enjoy. After getting a second look at the chocolate, my stomach craves not aches ;)
